OEM or aftermarket?
Bunn is the easiest brand in this category to get right, because it comes from commercial food service where parts carry real numbers. Your decanter has its part code printed on it. Use that and you will not get this wrong.
Order by the number, not the cup count
The standard 12-cup commercial glass decanter is 42400.0106. The 6100 Easy Pour is 10917.0001 and has a different pour design. The NCD 10-cup is shorter again. All of these get described as Bunn coffee pots in listings, and the cup count does not separate them.
Turn the pot over or look at the collar. The number is there. It is the whole answer.
The orange collar is not a different part
Bunn sells decanters with orange handles and collars alongside black ones. This is commercial colour convention: orange means decaf so that staff can tell pots apart across a service counter. The glass, the lid and the fit are identical. If you find the orange version cheaper, it will work perfectly well on a home machine.
The lid is the part that causes the flood
The symptom that sends people looking for a new Bunn is the brew funnel overflowing while the pot stays half empty. The instinct is to blame the machine. It is usually the lid.
Bunn machines drop brewed coffee through the funnel into the decanter, and the lid has to be present and correctly oriented for that to land where it should. A missing lid, a lid from a different decanter, or one fitted backwards will send coffee over the rim of the funnel instead. Check that before you conclude the brewer has failed.
Glass and thermal do not swap
Bunn’s thermal models use a stainless vacuum carafe with its own lid mechanism and a different well. Even where the nominal capacity matches, a thermal carafe will not work on a glass decanter machine or the reverse.
Decanters that fit
Match the part number. Multi-packs are common on the commercial decanters and are usually better value if you have more than one machine or want a spare – glass carafes break eventually.
