Check the decanter lid
The lid must be present, the right pattern and the right way round. Without it the funnel overflows rather than draining into the pot.

Look at the sprayhead
Unscrew and inspect it. A scaled sprayhead restricts flow so water backs up in the funnel and over the rim.

Dry and towel test
Dry everything, lay a paper towel and leave the machine switched off and untouched for an hour.

Wet with the machine idle?
That is the tank or a hose. A Bunn holds hot water permanently, so gravity leaks show even when nothing is running.

That points at the funnel, the sprayhead or the decanter rather than the tank.

Do not move it full

Check the lid before anything else
The most common complaint filed as a leak is the funnel overflowing. On a Bunn the brewed coffee falls through the funnel into the decanter, and the lid has to be present, the right pattern and the right way round for it to land where it should. Missing, backwards or from a different decanter and it goes over the rim instead.

The sprayhead
Unscrew it and look. A sprayhead scaled up with mineral deposits restricts how fast water can leave, so water backs up in the funnel faster than it drains and spills. It takes two minutes to check and it is a common cause.
The towel test, adapted
Dry everything, lay a paper towel underneath, and then leave the machine alone and switched off for an hour. Do not brew.
Wet after an hour of doing nothing means the tank or a hose. Dry after an hour but wet during a brew means the funnel, sprayhead or decanter – and those are the cheap fixes.
If you moved it
Bunn machines should be emptied before being relocated. Moving one with a full tank sloshes water into places it does not belong, and it can take a day or two to settle. If your leak started immediately after moving the machine, wait before ordering parts.
