OEM or aftermarket?
Cuisinart sells three different things that people all call the filter basket, and ordering the wrong one is the usual outcome. Sorting out which piece failed takes thirty seconds and saves a return.
Three parts, three jobs
The basket holder is the frame that swings or lifts out of the machine and stays with it. The brew basket is the removable cone that sits inside the holder and takes the coffee. The gold-tone filter, part GTF-B, is a reusable mesh that drops into the basket in place of a paper filter.
Look at what is actually broken. A cracked frame is a holder. A warped or split cone is a basket. Sediment in your cup with everything else intact is usually a torn gold-tone mesh, which is the cheapest of the three by a distance.
Model codes are enforced here
The DCC-1200FB is listed for the DCC-1200 range and nothing else, and that restriction is real rather than marketing caution. The DCC-3200 and DCC-3400 use different baskets. The Grind and Brew DGB machines have their own assembly again.
Your model code is on the underside of the machine. Match to that, not to cup capacity.
Before blaming the basket for an overflow
A Cuisinart flooding its basket is more often a brewing problem than a parts problem. Too fine a grind, or too much coffee for the basket, will back it up regardless of how good the basket is. Try a coarser grind and a smaller dose before spending money.
If it still overflows with a sensible dose, then look at the basket: a warped cone that no longer seats squarely under the shower head, or a torn gold-tone filter blocking the outlet, will both do it.
Gold tone or paper
The GTF-B is a genuine convenience and it changes the coffee slightly – mesh lets more oils through than paper does, which gives a fuller body and a less clean cup. Neither is wrong. If you switched recently and the coffee tastes different, that is why.
Baskets and filters that fit
Aftermarket is fine on all three parts. Fit is what matters: a basket that does not seat squarely will overflow whatever the brand on the box.
