Try cleaning it first

Weak or under-extracted coffee while the machine sounds and times exactly as it always did. The pump and heater are fine; the water is just landing in one place instead of across the bed. Lift the brew basket out mid-cycle - if water comes down as one stream rather than a spread, that is your answer.
6-hole or 7-hole - does it matter?

Can I just clean the old one instead?
