Braun Carafe Replacement: BRSC005, BRSC007 and Which Is Yours

In short

Braun sells its replacement carafes under part numbers rather than machine names: BRSC005 and BRSC007 are the two common 12-cup glass units. Order by the BRSC code, not by the BrewSense model, because one code covers several machines and the machine name covers several codes.

Does it fit your machine?

Match your model number exactly — the code on the rating label, not the name on the front of the machine.

Model Notes
BrewSense 12-cup glass (KF6050, KF7000 family) BRSC005 is the carafe Braun lists for this range.
Braun 12-cup glass, white lid variant BRSC007 - same capacity, different lid and handle trim.
Braun 14-cup glass A separate 14-cup carafe exists; a 12-cup will not substitute.
MultiServe thermal Thermal carafe, not glass. Different part entirely.
PurAroma / older KF-series Check the BRSC code on your existing carafe base before ordering.

Your model is not on this list. Do not assume it fits — send us the model number and we will check it.

OEM or aftermarket?

Buy OEM for this one This part carries mains voltage, pressure or heat. Aftermarket tolerances are not consistent enough here, and the failure mode is not a bad shot of coffee — it is a safety fault.

Braun is unusual in this category: it sells replacement carafes under part codes rather than machine names. BRSC005 and BRSC007 are the two you will meet, both 12-cup glass, and the difference between them is the lid and handle trim rather than the capacity.

That matters because the machine name does not map cleanly to the code. One BrewSense name covers several machines, and one code covers several BrewSense models.

Find the code, not the model name

The fastest route is your existing carafe. The BRSC code is normally printed or moulded on the underside, or at the base of the handle. Read it and order that.

If the old carafe is gone, compare the lid: BRSC005 is the standard BrewSense 12-cup, BRSC007 the variant with lighter trim. Same capacity, different lid seat.

This is one to buy OEM

We usually say aftermarket is fine when the dimensions match. Not here, and the reason is the price gap rather than snobbery — Braun’s own carafes sit close enough to the copies that there is almost nothing to save, and the failure mode of a near-miss is coffee running onto the worktop every morning.

The carafe has two jobs beyond holding liquid: it has to open the brew-through lid mechanism as it seats, and it has to sit flat on the warming plate. A copy that is a few millimetres out does both badly.

12-cup and 14-cup are different parts

Braun sells a separate 14-cup glass carafe. The 12-cup is shorter with a different lid seat, and it will not stand in. Capacity is not a soft constraint on these machines.

The same applies to the MultiServe, which takes a thermal carafe with a different lid and seating height — a glass carafe is not an alternative for it.

What actually kills carafes

Two things, and neither is the glass. Thermal shock — cold water into a hot jug, or a hot jug onto a cold stone worktop. And the lid, which warps with repeated dishwasher cycles until it no longer seals, at which point a perfectly sound carafe starts dripping down its own side.

If your carafe is fine but the coffee has gone bitter or the brew has slowed, the jug is not the problem — that is the descaling interval talking.

Questions about this part

BRSC005 or BRSC007 - how do I tell?

Look at your existing carafe first: the part code is usually moulded or printed on the underside or the base of the handle. Failing that, BRSC005 is the standard BrewSense 12-cup and BRSC007 is the variant with the lighter lid and handle trim. They are the same capacity, so a photograph comparison of the lid is the quickest check.

Is OEM worth it here, or will an aftermarket do?

This is one to buy OEM. The carafe has to trip the brew-through lid mechanism and sit correctly on the warming plate, and Braun carafes are priced close enough to the aftermarket copies that there is little to save. The failure mode of a near-miss is coffee on the worktop every morning.

My 12-cup will not fit the 14-cup machine.

They are genuinely different parts. Braun sells a separate 14-cup glass carafe, and the 12-cup is shorter with a different lid seat. Capacity is not a soft constraint on these.

Can I run a Braun glass carafe on a MultiServe?

No. The MultiServe uses a thermal carafe with a completely different lid and a different seating height, and the machine expects it.

The lid drips when pouring.

Check the lid is fully clicked down and that the seal is not distorted. A lid that has been through a dishwasher repeatedly can warp enough to stop sealing while still appearing to close.

Is the carafe dishwasher safe?

The glass generally is, on the top rack. The lid is the part that degrades - repeated hot cycles warp the seal and the hinge, and a warped lid is the usual reason a perfectly good carafe starts dripping.
