Moccamaster Carafe Replacement: Part 89830 and the KBG/KBGV Split
Technivorm and Moccamaster are the same company, so both names bring you here. The glass carafe for the KBG range is part 89830, 1.25 litres. Thermal models (KBT, CDT) take a completely different vacuum jug that is not interchangeable with it.
Does it fit your machine?
Match your model number exactly — the code on the rating label, not the name on the front of the machine.
| Model | Notes |
|---|---|
| KBG / KBGV Select | Part 89830 is the glass carafe Technivorm lists for these. |
| CDG (Coffee Day Glass) | Same 1.25 L glass carafe on the aftermarket listings. |
| KBGT | Glass brewer with a timer - same carafe family, confirm on the listing. |
| KBT / CDT thermal | Vacuum jug, NOT this part. Glass and thermal do not swap on Moccamaster. |
| Cup-One | Single-cup machine, takes its own mug rather than a carafe. |
Your model is not on this list. Do not assume it fits — send us the model number and we will check it.
OEM or aftermarket?
Two names, one company: Technivorm is the manufacturer, Moccamaster is the product line, and machines carry either or both. Searching one and not the other is why people conclude a carafe is discontinued when it is not.
For the glass KBG range the part you want is 89830 — 1.25 litres, and it is the most reliable thing to search for because the model names in this range overlap heavily.

Glass and thermal are different machines
This is the split that catches people. The KBG, KBGV Select, CDG and KBGT are glass brewers and take 89830. The KBT and CDT are thermal brewers and take a vacuum jug with a different height, a different lid and a different brew-through arrangement.
They are not interchangeable in either direction, and the machine name gives you no hint — KBG and KBT differ by one letter.
OEM or aftermarket
Unusually for us, aftermarket is genuinely fine here. This is a glass jug with a plastic lid: no electrical function, no pressure, no seal that has to hold against anything. The dimensional tolerance that matters is the lid seat, and the copies made for 89830 handle it.
What to check on the listing: it should name 89830, or name KBG / KBGV / CDG explicitly. A listing that only says “fits Moccamaster” is not specific enough, because that includes the thermal machines it does not fit.
Dribbling is the lid, not the glass
A Moccamaster lid has a defined pour channel and has to be clicked fully home and correctly oriented. Warped by repeated dishwasher cycles, it will still appear to seat while no longer directing the pour — and the symptom is coffee down the outside of a perfectly sound carafe.
Why carafes crack
Thermal shock, nearly always, rather than impact: a hot jug rinsed under a cold tap, or set down on cold stone. Let it cool before it meets cold anything and the glass outlasts the machine.
If the carafe is intact but the brew has slowed or gone bitter, the jug is not your problem — look at descaling instead.

Questions about this part
Technivorm or Moccamaster - which is the brand?
Both. Technivorm is the Dutch manufacturer, Moccamaster is the product line, and the machines are labelled with either or both. Part numbers are the same regardless of which name the listing uses, which is why searching one name and not the other hides half the results.
What is 89830?
The Technivorm part number for the 1.25 litre glass carafe used across the KBG range. It is printed in the manufacturer listings and is the most reliable thing to search for, because model names in this range overlap heavily.
Can I put a glass carafe on a thermal Moccamaster?
No. The KBT and CDT are built around a vacuum jug with a different height, a different lid and a different brew-through arrangement. The glass carafe will not seat and the brew basket outlet will not line up.
Is the aftermarket version safe to buy?
For this part, yes - it is a glass jug with a plastic lid and no electrical or pressure function, and the aftermarket copies for 89830 are dimensionally straightforward. Check that the listing names 89830 or the KBG/KBGV/CDG models specifically.
The glass is fine but coffee dribbles down the side when I pour.
That is the lid. The Moccamaster lid has a specific pour channel and it needs to be clicked fully home and oriented correctly. A lid that has warped in a dishwasher does this even when it looks seated.
Why did mine crack?
Almost always thermal shock rather than a knock - rinsing a hot carafe under a cold tap, or standing a hot jug on a cold stone surface. Let it cool first and the glass lasts for years.
