Nespresso Drip Tray Replacement: Vertuo and Original
Nespresso drip trays are model-specific and do not swap between the Vertuo and Original lines, or reliably between Vertuo models. Krups makes Nespresso machines, so Krups part numbers such as MS-624960 for the Vertuo Next are the genuine parts. Generic drip catcher trays sit under the machine and are not the same thing.
Does it fit your machine?
Match your model number exactly — the code on the rating label, not the name on the front of the machine.
| Model | Notes |
|---|---|
| Vertuo Next | Krups MS-624960 is the OEM tray. |
| Vertuo Plus | Own tray - the Next part does not fit. |
| Vertuo / Evoluo | Different again. Match the listing to your model. |
| Original line (Pixie, CitiZ, Essenza, Inissia) | Smaller trays, not cross-compatible with Vertuo. |
| Generic drip catcher pads | Sit under the machine. Not a replacement for the tray. |
Your model is not on this list. Do not assume it fits — send us the model number and we will check it.
OEM or aftermarket?
The drip tray takes hot coffee several times a day for years, which is why it is one of the parts that actually wears out on a Nespresso rather than simply getting dirty. It cracks at the grid and it warps.

Identify the line, then the model
Nespresso runs two incompatible systems. Vertuo machines take round barcoded capsules and have one large button. Original machines – Pixie, CitiZ, Essenza Mini, Inissia – take the small cone capsules. Their trays have nothing in common.
Within Vertuo it narrows further. The Vertuo Next, the Vertuo Plus and the original Vertuo each use their own tray. Ordering by line alone is not enough.
Krups numbers are the genuine parts
Krups manufactures Nespresso machines under licence, so a part carrying a Krups number like MS-624960 is the OEM tray for the Vertuo Next, not an aftermarket copy. This is useful, because Krups part numbers are searchable in a way that Nespresso’s own accessory naming often is not.
What a drip tray is not
Search results mix in flat absorbent pads sold as coffee drip catchers. Those sit underneath the whole machine to protect a countertop. They are not a replacement for the tray, which is a structural component: it carries the cup support, sets the cup height and channels overflow back into the capsule container.
The leak a new tray will not fix
A tray catches drips. It does not stop them. If your machine is genuinely leaking rather than simply collecting the usual few millilitres after each brew, a new tray changes nothing – the water is arriving from somewhere upstream, most often the capsule seal or the tank connection.
Finding the source of a Vertuo leak works through that properly, including the paper towel test for locating where the water actually starts.
Why they warp
Thin ABS directly under the coffee outlet, hit with hot liquid several times a day. Over a few years it distorts. A warped tray stops sitting flat, the cup support rocks, and overflow runs onto the counter instead of into the tray – which is usually the point at which people notice.
Trays that fit
Match the model, not just the line. The Krups part is the OEM option; the aftermarket Vertuo trays below are model-named rather than generic.

Questions about this part
Which drip tray fits my Nespresso?
Identify the line first. Vertuo machines take round barcoded capsules; Original machines take the small cone capsules. Then match the specific model - the Vertuo Next, Vertuo Plus and original Vertuo all use different trays despite being the same line.
What is Krups MS-624960?
The OEM drip tray for the Nespresso Vertuo Next. Krups manufactures Nespresso machines under licence, so Krups part numbers are genuine Nespresso parts rather than aftermarket ones.
Is a generic drip catcher tray the same thing?
No. Those are flat pads that sit under the whole machine to protect the counter. The drip tray is a structural part of the machine that holds the cup support and channels overflow into the capsule container. They are not substitutes.
My machine leaks even with a new drip tray. What now?
A drip tray catches drips - it does not stop them. Persistent leaking means the source is upstream, usually the capsule seal or the water tank connection. Work through the leak guide to find where the water is actually coming from.
Why did my drip tray warp?
Heat cycling. The tray sits directly under the coffee outlet and takes hot liquid repeatedly, and thin ABS distorts over years. A warped tray no longer sits flat, which is why the cup support rocks and why overflow ends up on the counter instead of in the tray.
